NONPOINT Drummer Comments On Performing With MACHINE HEAD
February 16, 2008South Florida's NONPOINT is currently on the road with MACHINE HEAD, HELLYEAH and BURY YOUR DEAD as part of the More Balls, More Volume, More Strength Tour.
NONPOINT drummer Robb Rivera has issued the following update:
"Man, are we exhausted. We are on our way to The Rock in Maplewood, MN to do show 16 of 20 shows in a row. Yes, I said 20 in a row! We are still going strong, though. Not even our rickety bones can stop us from playing these shows.
"The tour has been going amazing, All the bands are getting along and having a blast out here on the road.
"We have been friends with MACHINE HEAD and some of the HELLYEAH guys for a while. We just met the BURY YOUR DEAD crew on this tour and they have been really cool as well.
"As great as everything has been, a sad and tragic thing happened recently to our friend, MACHINE HEAD drummer, Dave McClain. Dave got unfortunate news that his mother had passed away and forced MACHINE HEAD to cancel their Green Bay show while Dave was on a flight to San Antonio to be with his family in such a tragic time. Please take a minute and visit MACHINE HEAD's MySpace and website and send your condolences to them.
"MACHINE HEAD not wanting to cancel any dates approached all the drummers on the tour and asked if we could help them in their time of need. I was the first one asked and Robb Flynn put it this way to me: 'Robb, I know you are the biggest MACHINE HEAD fan on this tour, and I would not be asking you this if I did not think you could not pull it off, but would you be willing to sit in for a couple of songs tomorrow in La Crosse, WI?'
"I cannot describe the feeling that came over me. MACHINE HEAD has been one of my favorite bands of all time. I have been a fan of theirs since Robb and Phil [Demmel] were in Bay Area thrash band VIO-LENCE.
"Needless to say, I gave a quick 'yes,' not knowing was I was getting into. The next day came and we did a quick rehearsal and when showtime came I played 'Aesthetics Of Hate' and 'Old'. Even though we were all thinking about Dave and keeping him in our hearts, it was an amazing and unforgettable experience to be on the same stage playing with MACHINE Fucking HEAD.
"I want to send my love and condolences to Dave and his entire family and a huge fucking thank you to MACHINE HEAD for asking me to do this, I truly love this band more and more, and now being able to do this, I will never stop being a fan."
NONPOINT's fifth studio album, "Vengeance", was released in November via Bieler Bros. Records. The CD was recorded at Bieler Bros. Studios in Pompano Beach, FL with producer Matt LaPlant (SIKTH).
"Vengeance" is the follow-up to the acclaimed "To The Pain" CD, which featured the breakout single "Bullet With A Name".
